QUICK SUMMARY:
Let Life Be Light is an autobiography by Jyoti
Saini.
Jyoti Saini, a young energetic and confident girl, who had
been leading her life in a pretty peaceful way like everyone of us, suddenly notices
a slight abnormality in her blood pressure, during her college days. Her family takes her to various doctors and
hospitals, where she has had her bitter and sweet experiences. And when her ailment
is diagnosed correctly as IgA Nephropathy, she had to consume a huge list of
medications.
(Note On IgA Nephropathy - IgA nephropathy, also
known as Berger's disease, is a kidney disease that occurs when an antibody
called immunoglobulin A (IgA) lodges in your kidneys. This results in local
inflammation that, over time, may hamper your kidneys' ability to filter wastes
from your blood.
IgA nephropathy usually progresses slowly over many years,
but the course of the disease in each person is uncertain. Some people leak
blood in their urine without developing problems, some eventually achieve
complete remission, and others develop end-stage kidney failure.
Certain medications can slow its course. Keeping your blood
pressure under control and reducing your cholesterol levels also slow disease
progression)
Though she had to go through a tremedous task of altering
her diet and her lifestyle, she does it happily and with confidence. She never
loses her hope and moves on with her life, until one day something most
unexpected happens. Her test reports shows elevated parameters. When she finds,
even after altering the course of medications, nothing seems to be better, she
visits various doctors and tries homeopathic and ayurvedic line of treatment.
In this book, Jyoti shares her experience in hospitals, her
trips to various holy sights. She also talks about, how she had lost hope at
some point of time during the course of treatment, and how her family has been
her moral support all through. With the help of her family she regains her lost
hope and develops faith in the Almighty.
Finally after many years, she undergoes renal transplant and leads a
healthy life. And now she’s become a completely new person, learning from the
lessons life had taught her during her diseased times.
NEGATIVE
POINTS:
The beginning and the ending of the book was wonderful. As the story is about the true life of
the author, few chapters in the middle might not be captivating for the readers. And a
very few grammatical errors.
APPRECIATIONS:
A simple writing style which everyone can understand. A
smoothly flowing plot and emotions were very well brought out. Though a lot of
characters were involved, it was perfectly written without creating any
confusions to the readers. The journey to different places are clearly
explained.
SUGGESTIONS:
The story could have been written in a bit more intereting
manner.

all those people who are suffering from severe ailments. This is a book which
would give you confidence, a new hope and a different view on life.
